Promising … but not making much good on its promise. The northeastern and maybe eastern portions of Spring Creek Basin (including at least one water catchment) got enough rain to make the ground damp for a little while, so that’s fortunate.

Cassidy Rain listens to a far-off, low-flying plane from the shade of a secret forest in eastern Spring Creek Basin.
It had been a long time since I’d been to that part of the basin (the day Skywalker was born, in fact), and I’m grateful to the ponies for leading me back to that beautiful high plateau.

Corazon’s attention was briefly caught by whinnies from his band members over the edge of the hill while they grazed near Spring Creek canyon.
That was the moment I caught him in the late light. Best kind of capture. 🙂

This happened late Tuesday evening in Spring Creek Basin. Wowza. Not the boldest rainbow ever, and the pic doesn’t do justice to the view, but it was pure magic. … Yes, it “sprinkled” over that part of the basin; I think I got hit by four, maybe five drops. Sure was pretty. 🙂

Terra was born a rusty red sort of sorrel with an unusual “blaze” on her face that I always thought resembled a swan. As she has greyed, that little bit of pink on her muzzle is the only remnant of her baby color. 🙂

Copper-red Gaia on a blue-rain day. The last few days have been clear-blue-sky days again, and the temps are creeping up again. Not as hot as previously, so there’s relief in that.
Once again, the forecast shows rain chances in a *week*. … It’s been more disappointing (!) than accurate, but we always have hope!

Fifty-seven years of married life. I’m pretty much in awe of my mom and dad, Nancy and Dave. 🙂

Mom Nancy on Gem, brother Jeff, Dad Dave on Hawk (Gem is actually Hawk’s big sister), Tracey Jo (aka TJ!) with Johnnie Jo.
I wasn’t on her because I had to run the tripod-set camera, and even with a timer, I didn’t have much time. Total stroke of luck (and possibly some nearby bovines) that we got the horses’ ears all up! This pic was taken in Texas a few years ago when they were blessed with autumn-copper oak leaves right when Jeff and I were both there for a visit.
Happy anniversary, Mom and Dad! I love you both so very much! 🙂

Some beautiful light over Buckeye’s band on a recent evening, looking southeast. Buckeye at left, Aiyanna at center, Rowan at right and … see if you can spot Dundee behind the tree at far right. No rain, but the temps have dropped, and the cloud cover has been an absolute relief.
Bonus:

Met this teeny tiny little friend on a hike in a different part of Disappointment Valley.

Super itty bitty! Catching its movement is the only way I saw it. That’s some good camo!

This is a young mare who’s not usually on the blog, but something about this pic of her just stopped me as I was going through images … and I just decided that she needed to be shared.
It’s the quiet moments, not the big ones, that make spending time with the wild ones worth every second. Those are the ones we fight for.

Handsome mustang Flash in the foreground, rain comin’ in the background.
That rain reached us … but not as much reached the ground as we need to really soak the ground.
