This is how Disappointment Valley looks these days: Spots of snow on the distant hills, not so much underfoot, grey skies and a whole lotta mud (which isn’t necessarily obvious from this image) – and lots of furry mustangs. 🙂
We’ve had some amazing moisture this winter. Truly, it’s a winter to remember – and one that we have needed to give our vegetation a good soaking.
Mistress Houdini is the master of the mustang look. She has had a lifetime to perfect it. 🙂
Sundance was keeping a close eye on a nearby band … and all the pretty mares in it. 🙂
Kwana, and all wild horses, wild burros, wild animals, know their home country. And it knows them. Lives and places – intertwined.
We have a lot to learn.
We had snow once upon a time. Then it was warm, and the wind howled, and the snow melted. So Ma Nature put it back in our forecast. 🙂
When we had snow, it didn’t phase S’aka much. It won’t bother him when it comes again.
All that lovely snow is gone with the wind – literally. While the Front Range had more serious blasting wind than we did in Southwest Colorado, ours was tough enough.
But the ground continues to stay damp, and the forecast shows another stretch of moisture-laden days (that may or may not fulfill their promise), so we’re having a wonderful winter in Spring Creek Basin!
Puzzle still sports her fuzzy finery for all the winter that stretches ahead of us. 🙂

These pix were taken a couple of weeks ago – obviously, when we still had snow on the ground, and the cold temps to keep it there – when I was out in Spring Creek Basin, on snowshoes, with wild ponies. I remembered these images just recently and sifted through my cell phone’s gallery to find them for you.
Sometimes, Mother Nature’s beauty is in the very smallest items. We might miss it if we weren’t looking for a place to carefully kneel in the white stuff for a better perspective of the furry stuff(s). 🙂
