Classic Chrome

28 06 2013

Chrome at sunset.

Sunlit Chrome at the end of the day.

A pronghorn doe was nearby, and I think Chrome knew the whereabouts of her fawn. The shadows already had claimed his mares and Kwana, and I couldn’t resist mister handsome with that lovely light. He was calm, as always, but he was distracted. A couple of nights later, visitors and I saw a doe and her fawn. 🙂

Red beauty

27 06 2013

Tesora at the trickle.

Little beauty girl. The top of her star still looks like a horse head, even when seen closer. Like some other members of Spring Creek Basin’s herd, her tapered strip widens into a big snip. I love all their unique markings. 🙂

Always blue beauty

Kwana

Master Kwana just gets more and more handsome! He’s in this gorgeous warm-brown grey phase. Any color would go well with those lovely eyes!

Manes

24 06 2013

Kreacher and Seven

Kreacher and Seven had a little discussion around the water hole. Loved their shades of grey and the strands of their manes that seem to flow into each other with the ever-present wind. Love these boys!

Duke

Duke

It has been a while since Duke made an appearance on the blog, and that’s way too long. The elder mister still is with Kreacher (bachelor buddies), and they were watching Hollywood’s and Comanche’s bands. We first saw him in the shade of a juniper, waiting out some of the day’s heat. Then he decided to come closer to see what we were about. I don’t know about him, but we exclaimed several times about how handsome he is!

Summer solstice

Mama-daughter faces

Cassidy Rain with mama Gaia.

This image was taken while looking for Roja’s baby (who hasn’t yet made her or his appearance). It was a happy diversion!

Above: Gaia with her own big-girl baby, Cassidy Rain.

Tesora, treasured

18 06 2013

Tesora with "auntie" Puzzle.

“Auntie” Puzzle and baby Tesora in late-afternoon light. They were waiting with their band to drink at the trickle. There are other, better places to drink, so I wonder whether, sometimes, their drink-spot choices are like one’s favorite bar – a matter of habit rather than availability.

Rain dances, prayers and other mojo to get the drops falling all are appreciated.

Baby, protected

Reya, Spirit and S'aka.

Spirit makes the sweetest filling in a mama-brother sandwich.

A joy to the heart

Skywalker with stepdaddy Sundance; mama Raven is immediately to the left.

And that’s about all I have to say about this image.

Bringing you love from Spring Creek Basin: Skywalker and his stepdaddy, Sundance.

Happy Father’s Day. 🙂
