Storm sports some bling for his portrait with the rising nearly-super moon. 🙂 He also had his stylist make sure his hair was neatly combed!

Especially if you’re in the West, be sure to check out the super blue blood moon tomorrow:

“The Jan. 31 full moon is special for three reasons: it’s the third in a series of ‘supermoons,’ when the Moon is closer to Earth in its orbit — known as perigee — and about 14 percent brighter than usual. It’s also the second full moon of the month, commonly known as a ‘blue moon.’ The super blue moon will pass through Earth’s shadow to give viewers in the right location a total lunar eclipse. While the Moon is in the Earth’s shadow it will take on a reddish tint, known as a ‘blood moon.’

“In the Rocky Mountain region, the show begins as the umbra touches the edge of the Moon at 4:48 a.m. MST. The peak of the blood moon eclipse is at about 6:30 a.m. local time, and the Moon will set shortly after 7 a.m.”

Get out there and check it out. It’s going to be SUPER cool! 🙂

Not quite full, and not yet super … but close … so close!

Oops. I was having so much trouble coming up with a caption and text for this pic of Storm with Knife Edge in the background that apparently, I forgot to finish the post and schedule it to publish.

He’s a looker, our Storm. … And so is his home range. 🙂

Disappointment Valley awoke to snow yesterday morning!

It wasn’t in the forecast. It was sunny Thursday. It was sunny Friday.

Where the heck did the snow come from?

Beggars are not choosers and we most definitely are begging for snow this winter. 🙂

As you can see from the photo above, it wasn’t much, and it didn’t last long (the patches mostly are left over from the previous snow a few days ago). We’re grateful for a tiny bit more moisture!

Not much snow remains from the little bit we got a week or so ago, but the ground is damp still … despite the warm, howling wind that recently blew through.

In sunset light, silver snow becomes the most glorious glow of gold.

Some places got a little more snow than other places. 🙂 Most of our snow is melting fairly quickly … but it’s all good moisture, and we hope it’s soaking way deep down.

A couple of days ago, we had temperatures in the 60s. Yesterday, we got snow!

The air temperature was right around the freezing mark, but the stiff west wind made conditions pretty darn chilly. Most of the horses were finding low places, out of that wind. And that made them hard to find by seeking humans. 🙂

S’aka and Skywalker were the only ones I managed to find in all the wide Spring Creek Basin. Well worth braving the snow and wind!
