White gold

25 10 2022

Did I mention that Spring Creek Basin and Disappointment Valley got rain?

And then we got snow. 🙂 And before Halloween!

This was yesterday morning in Disappointment Valley, just beyond the rimrocks and southwest of Spring Creek Basin. No ponies-in-snow pix; too muddy, and that snow was melting fast! For fare somewhat different than you usually expect to see on this blog, please enjoy this mix of pix of golden cottonwoods crowned with good-as-gold moisture:

Mr. Zen

24 10 2022

Gusty winds preceded a cold front that dropped temps and brought rain!

Sundance took it all like a pro. … A very handsome, very zen pro. 🙂

Depth in a great field

Someone is always watching … !

Girls of autumn

22 10 2022

Piedra and Kestrel – and all their herd mates – are starting to put on their winter coats. … Ponies are getting fuzzy. 🙂

Pretty girl

Big ol’ knot in Alegre’s mane? Not a problem. She’s a beautiful mustang mare, and that just highlights her gorgeous wildness.

Dash of silver

20 10 2022

Another little dose of fall color – this time, cottonwoods along Disappointment Creek, which is *outside* Spring Creek Basin.

Winona and the mustangs are still finding plenty of grass – some even still green, as the cottonwoods turn gold – this fall, and that’s pretty awesome.

Can’t go wrong

Just as handsome. 🙂

Really, one can’t go wrong with any of our mustangs and our marvelous landscape in Spring Creek Basin.

Nature’s best blooms

18 10 2022

Spirit relaxes with a grand view far to the southeast and the area known as the Glade. Fall is still “blooming” in parts of the high country.

Happiness is …

17 10 2022

Surely happiness is walking knee-deep into a pond and slurping lip-and-muzzle-deep in the water.

The softest glow

Mariah finds plenty to graze in a quiet corner of Spring Creek Basin just before sunset drops the day’s curtain on the farthest landmarks such as Temple Butte and McKenna Peak.
