Sweethearts

Chrome and Winona

Aren’t they cute? 🙂 And they never seem to mind when the paparazzo catches them displaying affection of the sweetest kind.

Major mane

Chrome

Continuing with the awesome-mane theme, Chrome’s also is pretty remarkable.

The dreds that bind

16 09 2015

Terra

A mane that perfectly wild doesn’t happen by itself, you know. It’s molded and twisted and knotted by wind and rain and burrs and bits of greasewood and pieces of saltbush. Terra wears it magnificently well.

Shadowed run

Chipeta

Under an ever-changing stormy sky that chased shadows and sunlight across the basin, Chipeta ran with the wind that carried a hint of rain … but didn’t fulfill its promise.

The hills are alive

Temple

Pretty Temple, one of the mustangs that gives the landscape of Spring Creek Basin its magic.

The look that melts

Houdini and Shane

More pretty girls who grace Spring Creek Basin – Houdini and Shane.

Pink ‘n blue ‘n grey

Piedra

Piedra is one of the loveliest mares in Spring Creek Basin (which is saying something given how gorgeous they ALL are).

Check out the grey mane at her withers … and the black mane are her crest. But look closely to see the cutest black-tipped graceful-long mustang ears you’ve ever seen.

In the middle …

… of chewing … of swishing …

Kestrel

But just goshdarn gorgeous from any angle. 🙂

Studly

Aspen

He’s a big braw bay boy. Aspen, named for the upside-down aspen leaf on his forehead. No aspen (trees) in Spring Creek Basin, but those higher up the valley are starting their seasonal change. The cottonwoods won’t be far behind.

Labor Day

7 09 2015

Aurora and Comanche against a dramatic sunset-lit Spring Creek Basin ridgeline.

By their labor, this country was born – even before it was America.
