Oh, you handsome devil! Young Skywalker is looking for love. He hasn’t found it yet … but surely soon.
If his tail looks a little funny … that’s a stick. He galloped over to have a dusty discussion with Killian and returned with this giant stick stuck in his tail! Somewhere along the line, he has managed to get it unstuck. 🙂
Before the lovely, wonderful and wondrous rains, we had plenty ’o dust. Killian and Skywalker churned some up during a little boy-to-boy chat, then parted peacefully to continue the search for greenery.
Thoroughbred of the desert, eh? Mustangs embody all that is good and right about the essential *horse*.
Tenaz and Bounce had a friendly chat over a stud pile. They added to it … and that was that.
Not to brag, but this might be the nicest stud-pile photo evah. 🙂
Rabbitbrush frames Alegre and Houdini, “caught” for a moment in an arroyo, one of Spring Creek Basin’s main arroyos that eventually feeds into Spring Creek. It’s dry again but shows damp evidence of having run with water during our recent rains.
Those grey girls are finding mud to roll in and satisfy buggy itches, and that makes me happy.
Sundance the Handsome has been living quietly in elusiveness with his band this summer, mostly in the farther reaches of Spring Creek Basin.
Mother Nature has given him an excellent and elegant method of fly protection, from those white eyelashes to those long, lovely locks!
At the risk of being blasphemous, that’s some pretty heavenly light shining down on Comanche from above. 🙂 And in one person’s opinion, deservedly so!
Our weather has returned to normal – warm and dry and nary a rain cloud in sight. The gnats also have returned, spurred on by that previous wet weather and some still-damp places in the appreciative soil (if the soil isn’t exaaaactly appreciative, the rest of us are!).
But this is summer in wild places, and we appreciate also these long, lovely evenings – more time in the wild with our wild things.
Some of that green stuff is edible, which Sundance knows and is taking advantage of!
We got rain last week. To the tune of an inch and nearly three-quarters.
With more water news for our mustangs, we’re kinda happy this week. 🙂
