I mean, wow, right? Does anyone doubt this latest proof of magic in Disappointment Valley (or on planet Earth?)? 🙂 That was absolutely as wide as my cell-phone camera could go; the rainbow was (seemed to be) right above me.
As usual, the rain forming the prism of the rainbows fell in the atmosphere, but not much actually made it to Earth.
And after sunset, this was the storm to the southeast. Only in a video clip was I able to catch the lightning bolts. Time between first and third photo: about an hour and 15 minutes. (And that rain didn’t make it to my location, either. I’m not greedy, but it’s still annoying to have rain *that close*! :))
Spring Creek Basin Mustangs 
About 30 years ago, my son & I drove from NY to Cal. in 3 days!! I had never seen such gorgeous “scenery” all the way across and back! It was a quick trip to take care of his dad’s belongings, etc. after he passed away. We stayed outside Lucerne Valley at a friends place & as different as it was from where we live – it was so beautiful. These pictures remind me of that trip.

Gorgeous double rainbow, TJ! I love how it’s arching over the valley road like an entrance into hallowed halls. Sorry that storm didn’t reach you! We had some storms around us that did the same thing. They seemed to be very isolated.
It was nice to end our couple of days of rain with such a perfect rainbow! Now a stretch of hot, dry weather. … Hopefully our next rain chances aren’t too far away.
