This isn’t a super current pic of our lovely elder lady Houdini. It was taken a couple of weeks ago after a then-fresh snowfall.
When I get into Spring Creek Basin next – hopefully today – the snow is going to be even deeper than in the above pic. As I type this Tuesday night, to schedule for what will be this morning, we are getting walloped with snow! A solid 6 inches total so far, maybe 7 … and surely more by morning, let alone the end of the day, when the winter storm warning expires.
Our world looks MUCH different again from the uniform brown we had just a couple of days ago. We are getting tremendous moisture out of this storm!
That is wonderful, TJ! Seven inches! It won’t be long and you’ll catch up with us. πΆβπ«οΈ π And how beautiful is Houdini in her pristine white attire to match the pristine white snow!
Ha – I don’t think we’ll catch up to your FEET of snow any time soon! But that’s OK. Six or so inches is just about perfect – great moisture, and I can still get to where I need to go. π Houdini is a beautiful old gal. I so admire her!
What a great lady she is! So very happy for all the snow!
She’s a pretty amazing mustang. Think of the things she’s seen during her long life. π The snow is AHHHHHHHHHHHHH-MAZING!
Here too, at least six. I can’t believe it. I might have been the only resident of my town out shoveling but I don’t care. Blizzard conditions when I woke up this morning. All absolutely wonderful. I wish there were a way to get into the minds of our animals and find their memories of how they’ve seen the world they’ve (and we’ve) seen. My dogs that got old seemed to know so much and I couldn’t learn it.
So great that your valley got a good dose of snow, too! I think we got a total of 7 or 8 inches out of three days of snow. Wind … melting … all good! We had minus 5 here this morning. That’s a bit on the chilly side. π I’d just love to know what animals think about anything … and how they think it. They (some of them) probably wish we humans were smarter, too. π
I tend to think the animals view us with deep compassion for our lack of awareness. The biggest compliment I have had in my whole life was when I understood that Brownie T. Horse really thought, “Martha gets it,” and came to me when he was finally let out of his little corral. His human got it, too, and watching them “talk” to each other was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. And the fear thing? I had a (Tennessee Walker, a BIG horse) horse explain to me that he understood what I was afraid of and why didn’t I go get a halter? He was kind about but clearly he thought I was an idiot not to approach him with the “dictionary”.
π I wish all humans could have such compassion for all animals. … What a difference that would make!
Moisture for the horses and land is so good! And you watching over the horses during the difficult times is a blessing!
I do love to see them during all seasons. π They are amazing!
