Prince’s plume a’bloom

30 04 2025

Speaking of prince’s plume … !

Just between Sunday and Tuesday, the number of plants I saw probably doubled (which isn’t saying much as I didn’t see many on Sunday). But they’re definitely budding and blooming and raising their blossoms (I don’t really know the nomenclature for blooming or blossoming plants?), and the bees (and ants) are taking notice.

Proudest moment about the above pic? I think I actually have a catchlight in the bee’s eye. πŸ™‚

The bee, by the way, was huge, probably at least the size of my middle finger’s middle knuckle.

WOW! What a great shot! Is that a spider on the flower above the bee?

And with my phone! I never know whether I have an in-focus image until later, between my screen that’s nearly impossible to see clearly in the sunshine and my need for eyeball glasses to read/see close-up things. πŸ˜‰ I think it’s an ant; there were two other ants on another tall bloom from the same plant right next to this one.

Yes, I think it is an ant! It has long legs like a spider!

I might have thought it was a spider if I hadn’t seen the ants when I was there. πŸ™‚ It does have long legs!

I think so. πŸ™‚ And possibly a little intoxicated? It stayed there for me to take several pix from several angles, and it was still there when I left it!

The link goes to some sort of email animation. I had seen the news from another source (also email), and the only other references (so far) I could find are on Facebook and Instagram, which require an account/login. The news – horribly sad – is that a BLM person, new to Pryor Mountain Wild Horse range (?), shot and killed Cloud’s grandson Echo/Killian … apparently because he was thin and lethargic. … In Colorado, it’s my understanding that only one BLM person in the state has the authority to euthanize any wild horse, and it’s done only when the horse has no chance whatsoever of recovery. I’m so sad to read this news from Pryor Mountain. 😦
