Red sky at night, sailors’ delight.
Red in the morning, sailors take warning.
The following pix are from sunset the night of Oct. 28 (I couldn’t think of anything spookier for today’s post!).
Morning the 29th was grey and dark – and raining from the heavens! – and I was fully delighted by both the light show … and then with all of the RAIN (0.86 inch total)!

Am I right, or am I right?! The above is nearly straight out of my camera – I sized it and applied some sharpening. That’s looking west.

This is the spookiest part of the post (!). Looking east toward/across/beyond Spring Creek Basin. Again, the only thing I did was size it and apply some sharpening.

And a bit closer as the color was absolutely exploding.
The above are from my camera; the below – for wider views – from my phone (again, nothing but sizing and sharpening):

And:

I don’t know about sailors (any folks on actual waves are half a continent away), but *I* was the very best kind of astounded!
And very grateful for the rain overnight and the next morning. π
Walking my dog at 7 this am – really red sky in the East – I guess our 70 degree sunny days are over!
Ours definitely are over!
Astounding is right! Skies like that are the delight of shutterbugs everywhere! But sailors, not so much…LoL π Terrific photos, TJ! It’s a double blessing y’all getting much needed rain as well. βΊοΈ
The triple blessing: We got snow yesterday on top of the rain. π October started super dry and is ending with LOTS of moisture. Majorly grateful for this late rain and (regular-season) snow!
Happy for your ra
Thanks, Karen. π Lots of mud!
WOW! What great pictures! Almost looks like another planet in a science fiction movie!
Ah, yes, that’s what I was trying to think – very otherworldly!! π
The rain – and snow all day yesterday – has been wonderful! We are very grateful…again. Gorgeous sunset photos, TJ. We were watching that spectacular color show from our west windows equally “astounded!” Frost on the pumpkin last night. π₯Ά
Wasn’t it magnificent!? I’m so glad I ran out and saw it; I wasn’t even in the basin! This morning was our first actual morning at freezing. We’ve had frost, but this was the first time I’ve seen 32F. π
Fabulous photos!! Can prints be purchased?Sent from my iPhone
Thanks, Craig. π I don’t really sell pix? I just like to share!
I havenβt seen a sunset that gorgeous in years ! Thank you for sharing the wonders of your back yard !
It was absolutely glorious. Something else to make a body believe in magic. π I do love to share these wonders!
