Mid-winter slog

12 02 2023

Realistically, we’re probably closer to the latter end of winter than the middle, but we’re optimistic for more snow! This is a current view of Spring Creek Basin and Disappointment Valley beyond to Utah’s La Sal Mountains. It’s fabulous to see the peaks capped in pristine white. Those nearby patches of snow are keeping the basin pretty soggy, which is valuable for the soil and vegetation … and we’re hoping for another dose of white stuff this coming week.

Kestrel is plump and fuzzy and ready for whatever Mother Nature brings.

Pretty Kestrel all decked out in her lovely, fuzzy buckskin. She’s one of my favorites – in every season!

We have snow predicted Monday through Thursday along with the frigid temps for which the San Luis Valley is famous along with 45 mph winds. Party on! Kestrel is lovely. ❀️

Wow – that’s awesome! Ours is Monday through Wednesday. One of the forecasts is calling for up to a foot of snow! I’m not sure that will all fall here, but anything will be great. πŸ™‚ Whew … I don’t envy you those frigid temps. Once was enough for me! Hope you get SNOW!

Ready for snow and cold? Horses are ready!

The snow and cold will be a little reprieve from the mud … which just delays it! πŸ™‚ But we could use some more moisture. Bring it on!
