Almost no other color could glow with such warmth in a world so amazingly and blindingly white. And it is VERY white out here right now.
Even when we get snow, it so quickly melts that it’s rare to enjoy it for longer than a few hours after it falls. It was COLD yesterday morning (4 degrees Fahrenheit by my truck), and though we had periods of sunshine (first thing in the morning), clouds quickly obscured that glorious Colorado sky. That combination means that it’s still a very white world here in Disappointment Valley. 🙂 And the snow is deep – still.
The depth of the snow is obvious by that clinging to Hollywood’s knees and hocks. His face is wet to just below his cheeks from the foraging he’s doing in the snow to find the palatable bits of vegetation.
It’s RARE for us to have so much snow all at the same time. It’s COOL to have so much snow all at once.
What a glorious site! Snow, and a beautiful 🐎❤️
It’s a huge relief to have so much moisture! I hope ya’ll get some … ?!
And it’s still coming! Four more inches this morning, and we are grateful. Hollywood in all of his red fuzzy-wuzziness is one beautiful boy.
Wow. We got another half-inch in the night, but it’s warm and already melting again. I was happy to find Hollywood’s band … but they sure made me work to get to them! 🙂
Glad for the snow! Hope you get a lot more!
Crazily, so do I! Ha. This is a lot for us all at once, and for once, I’m a bit stymied in getting into the basin very far – either under my own steam or by “horsepower.” 🙂 But I won’t say no to more; we need ponds and grass!
TJ, do the mustangs in Spring Creek basin have trouble finding their food through the snow?

Well, I wouldn’t say it’s easy for them – and certainly not as easy as no snow or only a couple of inches. But they’re well adapted to their wild home, and they know how to find vegetation even when it’s buried deep. 🙂
We have a foot of the white stuff in central Indiana – I love it! ❤ I'm glad you have a lot, too!
That’s great! Snow, especially at this depth, just makes everything beautiful. 🙂 Are you experiencing the bitter cold, too?? Stay warm and safe!
Temps in the teens, but the sun is out today. Snow makes everything so gorgeous, and seems to purify : )
Yay for the sunshine. 🙂 It’s trying to peek through here, but mostly, the clouds are victorious.
Are you sure it’s not just Hollywood? I mean, HOLLYWOOD? 😉 Mr. Bright Lights himself. Glad you got more snow.
Ha – right you are! 🙂 And thanks!
One of my clients has worked so hard! for me to understand, better, coloring labels, undercoats, what the ‘color’ listed really means – etc. I see “Sundance” (yup! again!) dancing on the snow and enough leverage to uncover feed and some feed (?) maybe sticking up above snow level – and well – once again – your pictures are so often worth 10,000 words to me – and well??? I just can’t resist commenting – – that said – – um – Glad you got snow – yes it’s cold but hungry/thirsty muzzles not freezing to the ground and suffocating yet – thus – Yay! Snow!
It’s all GOOD snow … and very welcome. 🙂
Snow to mwlt into the ponds for the horses! For the grass to grow!
Yes and yes! 🙂 SURELY we will have ponds from all this moisture!
