Disappointment Valley is much browner now after a night of RAIN and a day of melting (of the snow that survived the rain). The ground is absolutely saturated, and the mud is marvelously messy. We still have snow in the forecast as the temperatures drop, so we may yet glow white again.
Madison, of course, knows that brown is beautiful!
Looking good. MADISON!
Glad for the mud!
Here’s hoping winter feels welcome to stay !
Update: It’s actually very WHITE now. There was a skiff of snow at 6 a.m., and by about 8 a.m., the snow was starting in earnest. π There’s about an inch (maybe more) of snow on the ground as of 9:30. I also hope “winter feels welcome to stay”! Love that! π
YAY!!!! MOISTURE!!!!! the horse is beautiful, too, and love your photography skills….but YAY!!! MOISTURE!!! π

We got another couple of inches of snow this morning/early afternoon before it cleared out and the melt began (again) in the sunshine. I snowshoed into the southern end of the basin … and as I drove north/lower in mid-afternoon, it was already brown again in the lower valley! Magnificent moisture, indeed! π
THAT is gorgeous…Madison in all her beauty of course, but all the white stuff – seen and unseen! We are all estatic with the continuing snow…and mud! π And endlessly grateful.
You said it!
