Warmer, coming

Handsome Tenaz is shedding his winter coat for his spring sleekness. We definitely have more daylight to hasten that shedding, but that ol’ spring wind still has a bit of a chill to it. Warmer days aren’t far away.

We had some pretty great clouds, and Shadow didn’t often see her shadow because of them, but we’d sure like to see some moisture fall from those clouds.

Skywalker pauses under grey skies that carried wind … but no moisture.

Hayden goes to great lengths to keep Copper socially – and otherwise – distanced from his family!

Winona jogs past McKenna Peak and Temple Butte, following her family, moving with another band.

Those bits of white on the slopes of McKenna Peak aren’t snow; that’s salt coming to the surface. We did have a bit of graupel Easter morning that made the ground (very) momentarily white. It melted almost immediately and left a bit of mud, which stuck to hiking shoes … until it dried well before the shoes were done withΒ  their hike. πŸ™‚

“You know how I like it when they walk.” ~ Ron Weasley

Harry Potter fans will recognize that quote. πŸ™‚ In the magical world of mustangs, who DOESN’T like it when they walk?!

This is a cellphone grab shot of our beautiful Raven-girl crossing in front of the stunning La Sal Mountains with much of Spring Creek Basin between here and there. The image isn’t very sharp, but these days, the sharp lines we thought we knew have blurred and straggled … and still, there is beauty to be found and recognized.

Health and strength to all of you. May you find beauty and renewal in the best places, close to home.

Happy Easter.

Comanche the protector moves to have a chat with a bachelor. A neighbor band was using the arroyo in the background to practice social distancing. Very respectful, those wild ponies.
