Beloved horizon

A quote I saw and liked recently: “We all live under the same sky, but we don’t all have the same horizon.” ~ Konrad Adenauer

Hollywood leads Madison, Comanche and Kestrel (and the rest of the bands’ members) away from the roller-coaster ridge pond, where they drank at the end of the day.

This horizon from Spring Creek Basin: Unique and much loved. With mustangs in front of that horizon: Heaven under the sky.

Those layers of mountains are breathtaking!! The sun outlining those mustangs is, well, breathtaking!!! πŸ™‚

The layers become most apparent at the edges of the days. I never tire of the view. πŸ™‚

Beautiful photo! How is Comanche (M?) with Hollywood? Or is Comanche a mare?

Comanche is a stallion; Kestrel is his mare, and Madison and Juniper (not pictured) are their daughters. Hollywood has Piedra and Temple, Mona and Shane, and Aurora. Bachelor Bounce hangs out with them (Aurora is his daughter, incidentally, but she most recently was with Grey/Traveler’s band). The bands have been close for quite a while now, but they are distinct. Comanche and Hollywood get along pretty well, and they tolerate Bounce pretty well. I’ve even seen the stallions pin their ears to send a particular mare “back” to her band. There may be some “relativity” going on. Kestrel was part of the band Piedra was with (Steeldust’s) when I first started documenting; Kestrel was a weanling, and Piedra was 2-3 years old. Hollywood had Jif then, but they stayed close to that band, and when Grey stole Jif out from under all their noses, Hollywood started courting Piedra (a very human term, but that most closely explains his behavior). A couple of years ago, Comanche stole all Hollywood’s band except Piedra (and Holls has lost her to two other stallions – both temporarily), but he let them go (they split and went into two other bands), in favor of keeping Kestrel, whom he has had since she had her first foal, Winona (likely sired by Mouse). Last year, the bands split, and a friend and I found Kestrel and her daughters without Comanche, who turned up back with Hollywood’s band. David ended up claiming Kestrel, Juniper and Madison, But very soon after that, Kestrel ditched him and Shadow and “reclaimed” Comanche. That’s a very long-winded answer to your question, but there’s quite a history to these bands!
