Skywalker is a stunning little guy! He’s really the epitome of an Indian pony, isn’t he? Sundance is clearly fond of him.
TJ, you must have a constant grin on your face, as you photograph these amazing creatures on a day to day basis. Lucky you.
I just love Sundance’s eyes….that is a look of bliss which one doesn’t expect to see from a stallion, much less a step father. Skywalker is stunning. I wonder if he will be allowed to be a bachelor in Sundance’s herd (since he is not related to Sundance)? How does that work with the ‘step children’?
The idea of “stepchildren” is a human term that I use for the mustangs simply to make clear that, as in this case, Sundance is not Skywalker’s sire. At some point, hormones will trump “family,” and Sundance will run him off. Humanly, I’d like to see Skywalker stay with his family for a while. But of course, I have no say in the matter! 🙂 Apollo was just a yearling when he was kicked out or left (I don’t know which). He’s almost 2 and still hanging out with his pals Hayden (3 in September) and Tenaz (almost 3).

I never take for granted the amazing opportunities to watch and learn from these wild horses!
