I swear on a stack of mustangs that I did NOT Photoshop this photo.
Skywalker-the-uber-handsome and Spring Creek Basin really ARE that gorgeous!

Puzzle likes to keep an eye on things. From a safe distance. 🙂
Spirit, despite her diminutive size, often is the braver of the two!

Double rainbow over Spring Creek Basin from Disappointment Valley Road, looking southeast.

Rainbow over Seven’s swale in Spring Creek Basin.

The other end of the above rainbow. … It was INTENSE.

Temple Butte and McKenna Peak in the very last light of the post-storm day.
Glorious. 🙂

Chipeta walks past McKenna Peak and Temple Butte with a jaunty lilt to her step.
In other news: Hurricane/Tropical Storm Rosa, we love you!
She’s bringing rain to our very parched region, and we couldn’t be more grateful. 🙂

Mariah the lovely. Really there doesn’t seem to be much else to say. 🙂

The full moon rises over Temple Butte and McKenna Peak on the eastern edge of Spring Creek Basin.
It’s officially autumn. 🙂

A little of those (dark clouds) led to a little bit of the wet stuff yesterday afternoon.
We love wet stuff. 🙂

Always the prettiest things out there. 🙂

Not much to say. … Terribly smoky. Many more people dealt with the smoke from the 416 and Burro fires – nearer to denser populated areas. Now smoke from other fires is blowing and settling in other places.
And there’s California …
None of it is good.
For a moment, a chance of rain appeared in our forecast for Friday. … Now there’s no trace of that chance.
Still, we hope.
(The blog post title came from a highway sign I saw yesterday that read: “Be cautious with fire and cigarettes.” Uh. … Really?!?!?! I have a much less polite way of thinking that people ought to be “cautious” with fires (!?) OR cigarettes (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)!)

Temple Butte and McKenna Peak seen through the haze of dense smoke on Friday morning. This view is looking east, around 10:30 a.m.

Skywalker grazes against a smoky sunset a little after 8 p.m. Thursday.
