Glory after the rain

3 11 2026

Well, Mama Nature was at it again, and she sent the clouds. And the rain. And more rain. And as the creeks rose and every low place that could carry water DID carry water, she sent more rain. Yesterday morning, just about 24 hours after she turned on the faucet, she turned it off.

By the time I sat down at the computer after dark and downloaded 441 pix *off my phone* (!!!), I was tired (I am tired!). So I’ll tease ya’ll with another fabulous sunset pic, looking across flooding Dawson Draw (I didn’t include the water in the pic) to the east-ish/southeast-ish toward Spring Creek Basin and farther up Disappointment Valley.

Please understand that this kind of rainwaterfloodingcraziness is super NOT normal for us, and I’m documenting it like I document the mustangs: with awe, fascination and magnificent gratitude.

Oh, and by the way, just in case you thought about it (please don’t): For the love of your own safety, do NOT drive Road K20E right now. I’m pretty sure Disappointment Creek rose high enough to cover the road (added to the rest of the rain that covered the ground and is still standing in many places), and that was enough to cover a stretch of Road 19Q, too. Just don’t do it.

Yes, that’s snow to the upper left of Temple Butte … and there’s also snow on the ridges at farthest right.

Pretty glorious way to end the day after the rain. πŸ™‚
