Pretty pronghorns

17 10 2026

This, I think, is a different group of pronghorns than the ones I saw (and posted) a short while ago. At least three other pronghorn does scampered before I could fumble my pack off my back and my camera out of my pack. And, I think, the two middle pronghorns in the pic above are youngsters, though they may be a year apart (?).

Any time I can “catch” a group of speedgoats (aka pronghorns), I’m happy!

And look at that *green* … in the foreground, at least. It’s astounding how beneficial that rain was, just about immediately.

Gorgeous photos of these beauties, TJ! They look very healthy. And yes, the green. We’ve been up in the mountains lately for our annual leaf-peeping and it is SO green; green like I haven’t seen for a couple of years or so. What wonders a lot of precious moisture can do!

I noticed that, too, in a lot of places when I was up in the high(er) country. So great to see some actual grass – there AND here! 🙂

They can actually be individually identified by their markings, apparently. I’ve never tried it … I rarely see them long enough to actually study! 🙂
