Photogenic, for sure, but you and I both (and everyone else around the West!) would sure love to see some rain-swollen clouds … or better yet, the clouds you can’t see because it’s actually raining!
I’ve always loved that these clouds are called mare’s tails, In my art one of my styles is called horses in the elements because I could see the shapes of horses in waves after years of painting horses in waves a friend of ours who is a windsurfer happened to comment on a particular wave that I admired the horses in and he said oh my gosh. Well that kind of wave is what surfers called mare’s heads! But he never really associated it with horses being visible in the sea!
I love that! Isn’t Poseidon and/or Neptune sometimes pictured riding a horse … maybe a *seahorse*? 🙂 And if you saw the Lord of the Rings movies, remember the scene where Gandalf causes the Bruinen river to rise to wash away the Nazgul at the ford as they’re chasing Frodo? Horses in the waves. 🙂 *Horses in the elements* – absolutely!!
Yes, in Greek mythology Poseidon created the horse. When I discovered that I had been painting horses in the sea for years so I was astonished! I later learned that in all cultural mythologies and spiritual beliefs, including Native American, horses are made of the elements.

I can imagine that for you as an artist, painting horses in the sea would be an essential, instinctive thing. 🙂 I believe wholeheartedly that horses are made of the elements! Because … they ARE!
When things quiet down. Thank goodness. And those clouds were weird yesterday – a bunch of “mare’s tails” just like the one you captured, TJ.

For sure, TJ. Lookin’ for those big cumulonimbi all gorged with rain!
Amazing cloud and photo!!!
Thank goodness for a cell phone with its wide/long view to capture that whole beautifully flowing “tail”! 🙂
Another great picture!
The scene appears; I’m just humbly glad to have a camera in hand. 🙂
