When a wild pony poses, you generally have about 2.7 seconds to either take the shot or get into position to take the shot … or you don’t get the shot because wild ponies don’t generally hang about posing for paparazzi.
Flash did me a super solid and posed for probably at least 12.8 seconds before he moseyed on after his mares.

Plenty ‘o time. 🙂
That’s snow in the background, swirling and whirling with the wind between us and McKenna Peak and Temple Butte. It snowed in the morning, too, but other than the far eastern ridges of Spring Creek Basin, it left nothing behind. … And by the time I took this pic in the evening, most of what had stuck to those ridges was gone again.
Keep trying, Mother Nature. We need that moisture badly (and that makes me think of the terrible wildfires in California, where I read they’ve had just 0.16 inch of moisture since May … ouch. THAT is just astoundingly dry). Keep trying, Mother Nature. …
Majestic Flash seems to be enjoying striking a pose for you, TJ! He – and his stormy landscapes – are beautiful. California’s drought is so much worse than ours that I sometimes feel guilty about feeling so troubled by our lack of moisture. Things can always be worse. Still, I long for some significant snow and rain. For all of us.
I was so hoping we’d get some actual (sticking) snow (if it doesn’t stick, was it ever even on the wind?!). No dice (or snow). All things are relative, for sure. It’s heartbreaking to see the images and read the stories from California. 😦
Its terrifying to see the pictures and videos of those fires. Selfishly, I’m glad I live where I do, but some form of climate change is coming or has come for this whole planet. The number of people – ordinary people who are losing their entire way of lives – not just the celebrities – plus the numbers of homeless families that obviously have no other place to go? Sure does seem like all those supposedly “intelligent” powerful humans could find a way to fix this mess, doesnt it?
Love to see Flash living his good life! Hes beautiful.
We ignore the effects of climate change at our planet’s peril. People of all economic levels are reeling. It’s a humanitarian tragedy. … Flash seems to be settling well into his role as band stallion, and his mares are getting used to him.
Flash is one good looking dude! Praying for the people of California! What a horrible scene!
Flash is a fabulous young stallion. Prayers, indeed, for the victims of the fires. For everyone: There are many lists online that show charities collecting donations to help humans and people, many of whom have lost everything.
Such a majestic pose ! And the way you captured the light on his crest is beautiful !
A la natural! 🙂 I didn’t have time to do more than focus and click, zoom back to show more of the scene (and from standing), click … and he was walking away. 🙂 He’s an excellent model.
