Who’s ready to take a nap with Tenaz? πŸ™‚

This was the morning after our recent rain/snow event. As illustrated by the image, the lower elevations got rain, and the upper elevations got only a spattering of snow – and it melted pretty quickly. A sign of how dry we are is that even with the rain, the ground soaked it up, and it wasn’t *that* muddy. … It was a little muddy … but almost more “tacky” than actually muddy.

He is a cutie all tucked and curled for his snooze! Sweet dreams, Mr. Tenaz.

They always look so vulnerable napping. … I’m glad they feel safe enough to do so. πŸ™‚

I’m thinking some other mustang buddie must have been nearby. I haven’t seen a horse lie down without a standing watchful friend nearby.

Many buddies. πŸ™‚ His whole band was surrounding him, including two others that were napping lying down just below him in a little drainage and another one, then two, across the arroyo. πŸ™‚

I hope not. … That seems irrevocable … and I think there’s still room for hope, no matter how dire it looks. (Remind me again this summer, when it IS dire!?)

I haven’t given up hope. I haven’t sold my X-country skis.

Cute photo. January has been a rather mild month here in Pleasant Valley. We had a few big snowfalls but now with mild temps in the 40’s, much of the snow has receeded quite a bit.

Pleasant Valley sounds … pleasant this winter! πŸ™‚ Winter in Disappointment Valley has been a big disappointment so far. We are brown, brown, brown. No snow other than tiny patches in the very shadiest of places. Several days of temps in the low to mid-50s, including most of this past week. We had just 0.29 inch of moisture in all of January. … Not good at all. February looks more promising. … Fingers and hooves crossed!
