Power of wishful thinking

If complaining about lack of snow leads to more unforecast snow in the future, I’ll do it!

After Thursday’s bomb, snow-wise, our next big snowfall was supposed to be Sunday (today). Snow Friday night/Saturday morning was NOT in the forecast – until late Friday night. But with no tell-tale blue blobs in the vicinity Friday night, I went to bed thinking it was wrong or wouldn’t amount to anything.

Saturday morning, I woke up to 2 inches of glorious snow! Please, chuckle along with me at the forecasters. As high-tech as weather forecasting is these days, even they don’t always get it right. 🙂

Mother Nature still rules, and as surprises go, this was an awesome one!

I schedule all my posts at least the evening ahead of their publication time, so I don’t always see into the future, either. With any luck – and good forecasting – we’ll be waking up to (more) snow, as has been in the forecast for the past week!

Hurrah for you – we got about 6″ which the “news” always describes as half a foot (makes it sound like more?) But I’m glad for it – got everyone outside fed & snow scraped away so the birds could get at it & the deer – who I believe are eating but the feed spot is up back where I cant see it (AND nobody else can from the road either).
Good for both of us

Good news all around so the wildies can eat in seclusion and peace. 🙂

Yes – although I looked out in the yard to see a 3 legged deer running across – she/he (no horns) stopped under one of the trees with low branches & was there 15/20 minutes – then headed into the brush – appeared to have a stump about 8-10 inches long of its left front leg. I’m guessing the snow on top of the uneven ground has to make it hard. But as far as I could tell – seemed not to be thin – although with winter coats – hard to tell.
Several years ago, there was what turned out to be a buck – young deer with a dangling left leg – maybe the same one?
Its pretty amazing how tough & brave animals are (wild & domestic) when they have such a disabling injury.

Wow, that’s *wild*. The injury might have stunted the growth of the antlers if it was the same buck from before. … One (of many) thing(s) I’ve learned about the mustangs is that they have the constitutions of lions (metaphorically speaking), and injuries that would have us on the phone to the vet for a domestic horse, they take in stride and sometimes completely recover from. Fortunately, here, those catastrophic injuries don’t happen very often. I have advocate friends who’ve seen terrible things among their mustangs. Good luck to your deer friend this winter!

Glad one of these unpredictable snowstorms reached you, TJ! We have about an inch again this morning and it’s still coming down; hopefully you’re included!

So how crazy is this: We got just another little dusting!!!!!!! Ha! I can’t believe it. All that hype … and almost nada. The windshields had just the lightest covering this morning, that’s it. At least we still have half an inch to an inch of snow on the ground. Last night’s snow didn’t even frost the trees again. Might be some snow coming from the south now … but the sky was nearly clearing with faint sunshine earlier. If I complain again, will it snow randomly again!? 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well it’s still snowing here in Durango at 8:30 AM so hoping you’re on the same pattern ! Somehow you always manage to get a beautiful background in with a stunning mustang in your photos!

Boy, I wish I could say that we were getting snow here … but, ya know … that doughnut hole thing again! I’m not kidding! You kinda have to laugh … but in the summer, we’ll be crying (!). In better news, sweet Buckeye. 🙂 I will say that he made me WORK to get that photo of him with the view – it took a while, though I did not mind the lengthy visit in the least. They were on the low side of a sharp little hill, and I couldn’t get the right angle until then. Rowan came up to nap under a tree, which pushed me back almost over a little hump into a shallow drainage. When he looked back at her, though, click. 🙂 Thanks, pal.

So gorgeous. 🙂 And thank goodness because today’s hyped snowstorm was a flop for us again (!). Did you guys get snow or rain?
