Some examples of some of our early bloomers may be seen below.

This is one of our earliest bloomers: phlox (don’t ask me what specific kind!). Most of our little bunches (and they are extremely low-growing and tightly clustered) are white. But some are:

Palest pink.

These Indian paintbrush (again, there are multiple specific types) also were very little bitty.
And then there are these beauties:

These little flowers are at least as numerous as phlox, and there are a few different things that look a lot like it … but not exactly like it. If you can give a positive ID on this little plant/wildflower, I’d be most appreciative!
With the infusion of a little rain last night – hopefully widespread? – hopefully we’ll see some more of these tenacious little wildflowers this spring!
Spring has sprung!
Definitely and for sure! A week or more ago, I thought we’d almost bypassed spring and gone straight to summer … but then we regressed a little. Hopefully we’ll get to enjoy our spring; we’ve earned it!
Just beautiful! Love these little flowers!
I look for them every year – the first appearances. ๐ I wish I knew what the white ones are with the yellow centers.
Gorgeous. TJ! And so it begins – a profusion of wildflowers as the desert blooms. Can’t wait to see the show in person!
Hopefully this is just the beginning of a colorful spring!? The little bit of rain (why is it always just a little bit?!) seems to have greened things up a bit more!
Itโs so amazing that these beautiful flowers can flourish in the desert ground. So delicate, yet hardy.

I especially think that when I see the sego lilies. ๐ They bloom a little later, but they really blow my mind, to grow in the desert.
Oh yes, absolutely! I think of these beautiful flowers as gifts from Heaven; maybe even our loved ones passed on๐

Bottom, Rock Rose (Cistus). Above the paintbrush, phlox. My phone identifies plants for me if I ask it nicely. ๐
Oh, and here… https://marthakennedy.wordpress.com/2023/04/25/horse-in-spring-snow-third-pass/ I wish I’d started this on a bigger surface and gotten all the horses, but with all of them, they would have been pretty difficult for them to “be” horses on this small surface.
Thanks! This is beautiful! ๐
This is a hard one! I don’t think it’s rock rose, either. It’s different in the middle … and smaller. It’s even smaller than the phlox, though it also grows in little clusters.
