Let me be clear: Spring Creek Basin does NOT look like this currently. It DID look like this Thursday morning – for a couple of daylight hours after we woke up to a couple of inches of fresh snow, after the previous fresh snow melted (a few hours after we woke up to THAT snow).
So think of the basin and lower Disappointment Valley not as covered with snow but saturated with mud (damp to downright soupy) … and imagine, if it please you, spring green and a profusion of wildflower blooms. Especially if you’re still covered with inches to feet of snow, it should be a happy vision!
Beautiful picture! We had 6 inches of snow yesterday! Looking forward to the green of spring!
Wow – I forget at times that some places get 6 inches (or more) of snow in one good fall. 🙂 Hope your snow is enriching … and better than the ice!
This is such a pretty scene, TJ, even if it no longer represents the real world out there! We have our first sign of mud, but it’s currently confined to our driveway. Very sloppy. Time for my mud boots! 😁
I went to town yesterday … and was ASTOUNDED at the amount of snow between (at least) the switchbacks and Dolores. I can’t remember the last time I saw so much snow. The mounds at plowed driveways and middle of highway/streets in Dolores was just wild. My mud boots have been getting their workout; I have two pairs plus my hiking boots, which sometimes have to double as mud boots! Be careful as all that snow melts to mud!
Great picture! Snow and mud changing the landscape! Horses always aware!
Even napping, they look out for each other. 🙂 The seasons are starting to change, for sure … but it looks like we still have some winter to go!
A happy vision indeed, which also means I can come see our mustangs again finally !!😄👍
