As of last night, it’s autumn!
As of yesterday morning, at least one particular part of Disappointment Valley got 0.64 inch of rain since Tuesday afternoon!
In the pic above, Corazon stands in Spring Creek yesterday. Which is to say that he’s standing in water running in the Spring Creek arroyo in western Spring Creek Basin – water draining from the basin’s tributary arroyos after all of that lovely, wonderful, excellent, above-mentioned rain. The yellow glow is blooming rabbitbrush (also called chamisa), an early autumn bloomer in our high-desert wonderland.
I’m pretty sure we’re all happy about all of the above. 🙂
Very happy! Love the pintos and the moisture!
Lots to love!!
Can’t believe Autumn has begun! And there is running water in Spring Creek Arroyo. What a blessing for mustangs and people alike for a real monsoon this summer! Rabbitbrush is blooming here too…just no beautiful mustangs to peek at us through the pretty yellow blooms. 😉
Hope your garden has been loving the rain! It was such a relief to get such soaking rains here. 🙂
So good to have rain!
So, so wonderfully great! 🙂
People here in the valley call chamisa “Chico.” I have no idea how or why but it’s kind of cool. Corazon is a beautiful guy and the water must feel good.
Ah! I thought I had finally figured out that when people here talked about “chico,” they meant greasewood. I’ll have to do some more investigating on that!
You’re right!! I got it wrong — the guy explaining it to me pointed to bushes both greasewood and chamisa were behind him. Thank you!
I am very happy to hear about the rain you’ve had. Beautiful rabbit brush and sage brush, alas, cause me great allergy struggles.
