The clearing storm put a spotlight right where it needed to be: on the lovely Piedra!
Lower Disappointment Valley got around 2 to 6 inches of snow! It was hard to tell because of the wind that caused drifts to form across roads and against hillocks and filled little arroyos. That wind was nippy! Then the wind pushed the clouds away, which means frigid temperatures for the next couple of days.
Just beautiful! Glad for the snow!
SO glad for the snow!
Such an inquisitive look ! Happy for snow but the temps are challenging. Stay warm TJ
After all this time, they still wonder why I keep coming around. 🙂 No secret there! The temps have been challenging, indeed. Now we have some 40s coming, which means MUD Ha. It’s all moisture!
Right about the wind yesterday and cold today! Hope the horses found shelter in the trees.
Oddly enough, I still find them out in the open, manes and tails blowing, fuzzy coats all fluffed up, completely at ease. 🙂
We’re glad for the two or three inches we got out in the open country. A lot less in town. Yesterday I — I “have” a small family of Herefords, beautiful cows, carefully bred, the “husband” is one gorgeous bull. Yesterday, as I drove out for my walk, I passed him. He was only a few yards from the fence/road. I was driving slow because of the ice. We looked at each other. His beautiful curled-down horns and soft eyes, his curly forehead holding the snow, his pink nose and lips. His “wife” (Bessie, I named her) was somewhere in the distance with the rest of the harem. There was something so beautiful about all those animals in the falling snow on a not-very-cold day (25). None of them — horses, cattle, burros or sheep — cared at all. Maybe they were as relieved as your mustangs — or me.
We sure can learn a lot from animals of all kinds. 🙂 Appreciation of the moments is a big one!
Such a great photo of gorgeous snow-white Piedra in the…well, snow-white snow! 😊
Isn’t she the most beautiful girl? 🙂 I think she was born bay; when I first met her – I think she was about 2 – she was a soft brownish color. Greys epitomize the grace of aging!
When the wind blows during a storm and folks ask ‘how much snow’ I got? I replly, “1/8th an inch or 4 foot, depending on which portion of 100 square yards of area I look at…..” – – Sheesh! Folks who live in blizzard country should know better than to ask ‘how much snow” – rain? A tad different – rain gauges exist, but that’s only if the rain ain’t evaporating before hitting the ground OR blowing sideways – — LOL
Ha – we don’t get a *lot* of drifting here. More often we have rain that blows sideways than snow that does. As long as it lands, I’m happy!
