Lovely lady Kestrel, at rest before the rain came.
Soon after this visit, clouds from the east and southeast were over the entire basin, and later, more rain.
This summer, it finally seems safe to say that we ARE getting monsoon rains. We’re up to about 1.20 inches of rain total during the last week and a half-ish. The moisture that hit the ground mostly is soaking in – and gathering in arroyos that run to creeks that run to rivers – but the moisture is huge for the vegetation, and we’re still hopeful that some ponds might fill!
Great you are getting rain!
So super marvelous and wonderful and amazing!
So glad for the moisture. Hope it keeps up.
We have some dry days … then some more rain the forecast …followed by some really HOT temps again! This rain has been a godsend!
So glad you are getting the rains you so desperately needed. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE seeing the lovely Kestrel.
Thanks. 🙂 Us, too! Kestrel’s band has been a bit elusive lately; I’ll try to feature her a bit more. 🙂
How great to see Kestrel !!! Here’s hoping the ground doesn’t hog all the rain water and the ponds get their share !
With my replies, I’m a bit behind the rain that has put water in all our ponds. 🙂 Your wish (and ours) was answered!
Recent rains have skirted my place, while blessing areas around me that went dry earlier this spring/summer while I basked in the bounty of daily showers – but yes, overcast skies, higher humidity, even without a lot of rain, right on my place, make me feel as if the “Augusts of Yore” have once more made an appearance this year, after what seems a long time (but not really!) of their absence.
I hope your place gets rain soon, if you haven’t already! We know the frustration of skirting rains, for sure. Even the clouds building every afternoon was such a relief!
The long rains, day of overcast/drizzle, etc., arrived two nights ago!!! I take full responsibility – LOL. I didn’t wash my windows or my truck, but I did make plans to walk early in the morning with a friend I have walked with since 2020 – WALLA! Right on cue! Rained all night, misty drizzle that morning, and we walked where the mud wasn’t deep – or sidewalks/pavement was – Thus? I made plans, the Universe laughed, and well – the moisture arrived!!! (I really just have me own stories on what works for ‘rain dance’ prayers/intentions – – ). :D. Need more, but the air, the skies and all FEEL like August monsoon arrived here on my itty-bitty home space!
Beautiful Kestrel…in what appears to be green “stuff!” So great to have a REAL monsoon in progress so things can be green again!
I completely agree! 🙂
