Wide berth

Shadow is another little old lady of the basin (though not nearly as old as Houdini) who’d rather not bother with two-legged interlopers, thank you very much. Just because the rest of the band doesn’t seem to be bothered, Shadow knows what she knows, and no one will convince her otherwise … even during lovely naps on lovely, sunny, not-quite-spring days. ๐Ÿ™‚

Little old range ladies! Love it. Someday I’ll be an old range lady, though hopefully not so bent as to be little. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So nice to see Shadow again! She is a shy one, but as one of the Spring Creek Basin matrons, we know she is also a wise one. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Wary and wise, and she knows how to survive. Interestingly, the “babies” of the band absolutely love her.

I always wonder โ€œWhat are they thinking aboutโ€ or โ€œWhat do they see?โ€

She’s making a beeline for the band. While I was hanging out with them, they grazed, then dropped into a little drainage to eat snow. Shadow, of course, moved well away from them … in the direction I had to go to leave. So when I decided that I’d had enough mud for the day (!), I reluctantly left the band as they were and tried to give Shadow lots of room even as I had to go in the basic direction of her. So we each gave each other a wide berth. ๐Ÿ™‚
