No, I still don’t know the cause of it. It was very even for being either rubbed or chewed, and I never saw him rubbing or anyone else chewing. I’ve seen it a few times over the years on several horses (mares, stallions, younger, older) – short manes *and* tails – and I still don’t know what causes it.
