Spirit places each hoof carefully on the slippery shale while walking down a fin of a ridge on the west side of Round Top. What they were doing up there – and they were up there! – only they know.
The view is fabulous, but the grazing is sparse!

For sure, what were they cling around up there?
Napping when I saw them … then grazing their way along the bench they were on … then starting to head down – but that could have been my influence.
Lost my breath just looking at this photo. Which by the way another beautiful picture story.
Thanks. π
Maybe they like to see the view?
It sure is a great view!
Could there be minerals or salt up there that they eat/lick?
No more than usual, I think?
Maybe just a cool hang out spot : )
maybe to see if the grass is greener on the other side.

There’s not much green on any side of any fences. π¦
Maybe they pulled ‘scout’ duty….? π
Certainly no one – even me π – could sneak up on them there!
My new favorite ! Your photos give us a slight glimpse of their world and some of itβs challenges and beauty. Thank you

Going for a stroll perhaps…to check out the view? π I love this photo, TJ!
By the tracks up one of the ridges, I think they just sort of moseyed along grazing and found themselves where they were. There was ground under their hooves, and I’m not sure they think of heights as *something different* the way we do. They weren’t in a hurry to head back down, either. π
