Maiku watches over his band (he’s a lieutenant) as they graze among the boulders of Filly Peak. Spring Creek Basin stretches dry and parched in the distance.
Good catch! They were branches or parts of old, exposed roots, maybe. But yes, I used them to help “anchor” the image. 🙂 It was tricky getting into position to get a good view of Maiku with the basin beyond because of the hill and boulders and erosion cuts running down the hill. (Not to mention watching for Mr./Ms. Slithery … !) Fortunately, he was half-asleep and didn’t seem to mind my semi-steady scrambling.
For now, he seems content to be part of the band. One of these days, he might venture out, but for now, he seems to prefer the quiet family life to roaming like a loner. 🙂
What a hunk!
You’d never know how little he is … he IS quite a hunk!
Cool dude!
He totally is. 🙂
Sure hope rain is on your horizon
If it is, it’s an as-yet unseen, very-far-away horizon. 😦 Thanks for the wishes!
It’s a bit too dry in Indiana, too. Saying a few blessings for rain for both of us…. ❤
Rain wishes for you, too! Thank you!
Thank you!
I noticed what looks like antlers in the foreground of that shot. Was that planned or just a coincidence?

Maiku is so handsome in his lieutenant’s “uniform!” I’m surprised the ladies aren’t after him! 😁
