Big sister, little brother

7 08 2012

Same sire: Copper.

Big sister Puzzle takes good care of little brother S’aka, who clearly adores her. (Reya was immediately to the right.)

Puzzle’s mama is Chipeta, who is probably about 7 years old and due to foal around Sept. 1; S’aka’s mama is Reya, who is 5 years old.

Diggin’ the spots

Today was a good day to check the status of the Round Top pond. On the way, I stopped for a visit with the pinto ponies.

Copper walks past the Round Top pond.

Then there was some of this:

Mama Reya and baby S’aka.

And a bit of this:

Copper, with Brumley Point in the background.

And a teeny bit of this:

Puzzle with mama Chipeta and stepdaddy Ty.

And we got a nice downpour later. What a wonderful day!

Green and rose

5 08 2012

Have been busy with family – hi, Mom and Dad, Tom and Kayla! – and haven’t had much time to post. We did get into the basin this weekend to see the horses, and saw almost all of them. Kreacher has lost Roja and Killian to … drum roll, please … Storm! They’re back in the east pocket. Bounce was close-ish. Kreacher is with Seven. All else seems normal.

The trapsite pond does have water, and the northwest and roadside ponds are dug out and just waiting for a drencher! The hills are so green right now. The range looks fantastic, and the horses look fabulous!

The horses were mostly at a distance, so I’m going back a couple of weeks for this one of sweet Mariah. She looks so rosy with her red coat going grey.

What a stunner. 🙂

Holls’ girls

1 08 2012

A week ago, Hollywood’s, Comanche’s and Kreacher’s bands were on what I call the roller-coaster ridge. Bounce was out below the east end of the ridge. Some of those ponies do like to stick together.

From left: Mona, Shane, Temple and Piedra. Mamas and daughters. Hollywood’s girls.

Comanche’s girls were behind them, and Kreacher’s were heading down toward the pond (dug out in 2010 and one of the three that didn’t go dry this year).

Some good lookin’ girls Mr. Hollywood has. 🙂
