This handsome pronghorn buck and his ladies have been in and around Spring Creek Basin lately. I haven’t seen any fawns yet, but they’re either hidden out of sight, or they’re almost ready to make their entrance to the world!
Thanks for posting these great pictures of the pronghorns, TJ! We saw them when we were there, but my camera wasn’t powerful enough to capture the images, they were too far away.
I usually see the pronghorn fawns eventually, but they are hard to get pix of as the mamas aren’t nearly as apt to hang around when they have babies (or even before!). Hope to see some soon.
Beautiful. Just saw MY first fawns of the year a couple days ago – doe with twin babies that looked brandnew! Love love love seeing them every year. AND we have sunshine!!
Oh, that’s so awesome. The deer seem to have moved out now; there are still some resident elk around. I haven’t seen any babies yet but sure would love to. The mamas are – rightfully – very wary about showing off their treasures.
Ha – that made me laugh! I had to look it up, and this is what Google says for anyone else interested: “Spiedie sauce is a popular marinade, particularly associated with the dish called spiedies. It’s a flavorful blend of ingredients, typically including oil, vinegar, garlic, herbs, and spices, used to marinate meats like lamb, pork, chicken, or beef before grilling. The sauce is a key component of the spiedie sandwich, a local delicacy in Upstate New York.” Sounds particularly yummy!
A small herd of these guys has been hanging around the Refuge. They are why I decided to start using a legit camera again. It’s not real fancy — a Canon point and shoot — but it’s better than my phone!

Thanks for all you do! Carol β€οΈ
They are fascinating critters. Still North America’s fastest land mammals! π
I had no idea! So cool!
Love these guys, TJ! And love your photos of them. Hopefully they will be enlarging their families soon!

Oh have to add – we have speedies here – spelled spiedis!!! They are pork or chicken pieces grilled with spiedi sauce. VERY tasty.

They are really good! Like the chicken ones myself
Something for folks to try if/when they visit upstate New York. π
They are a great looking family group!
They sure are. Can’t wait to see them with fawns!
