Fourth rifle season ended a little past sunset last night – thank goodness. Every year, the human pressure increases. Where once it was horrible only during third season, now all the seasons have their pressures … from the first of September through late November. It’s exhausting for the animals (of which I’m only one two-legged critter).
Glad its over for yours and the wildlife! I think ours has started but didnt hear any sighting of guns for a change so maybe less hunters than before.
Great picture
I thought we’d get a reprieve between third and fourth. Nope. Today, finally … NO vehicles up and down the road. Real relief.
I totally agree TJ, we are (dogs and me) off on walk today in the forest! before the weather set in again.
This year we have all of Thanksgiving week to enjoy our forest again.
And I believe the seasons are over now aren’t they for 2024?
I had set aside my walks, too, along the road … wearing orange out with the horses, just in case. It’s so nice to walk again (though I did find more evidence of trespassing). Yes, the main seasons are over, though I think there might still be some private-land hunting, and the Brunot Treaty is in effect (I never know what that actually entails) … and then mountain lion hunting, I think, basically starts when fourth ends. …
So glad for the peace! Wish it could last all year!
So do I. 🙂 It’s the one downside of living out here. I see it more intimately than I ever want to.
Thank goodness, TJ; it’s over for another year! Unfortunately it has to come back again, and I agree – the pressure seems to be increasing. I remember when bow season was relatively quiet and now…mercy. Hunters are everywhere, all the time, for a solid month! Then two months with rifles, one after the other. I hate it. But we and the critters can rest now and be thankful in this week of Thanksgiving. 🙂
It HAS been increasing every year for at least the last few; the other seasons are getting much more traffic here. This year, it was just neverending – until now. I’m so grateful for the peace now. 🙂
😞
That’s over. Now it’s –> 🙂
Hunting is over here. Thank goodness. The traffic going up to the forrest has thinned finally. Trying to park at our little store sometimes was impossible.
Such a calming photo.
You know exactly how it is. I’m sure the business owners are glad for the boost to their livelihood, and one has to be happy for that, but personally speaking, it’s just a huge drain. Hope you’re getting rain!
Yes, we’re getting rain!! It’s light which is good. It comes and goes.
Very grateful for the rain, and grateful it’s not a down pour for the sake of the burn scar. We don’t need mud slides or boulders falling onto the roads.
Yay for your rain! I absolutely echo your gratitude that it’s a soft rain and not a downpour to cause even more damage with mudslides, etc. I hope it is super beneficial!
