Tenaz and his young mares head out to graze after a session at one of the water catchments (the trough is full after last week’s rains if not the tank) in the day’s last glorious light (and not-so-welcome heat).
Another one for the record books – not the most, but a lot: We got 1.66 inches of rain yesterday!!!!!!!!! Not a toad-gagger … a toad-awakener?? Ha. They were thrumming their little hearts (throats?) out yesterday, last night and this morning!
it’s Summer! Which means fire season here. I’ve been evacuated. So far my home is safe. I feel confident Cal Fire is working hard to keep my little town safe.
That’s a very good haven to have. I lived in Descanso, in the Cuyamacas. My dogs and I spent one harrowing day going from one evacuation site to another, then they opened I-8 and we were able to go into San Diego and stay with a friend in Ocean Beach for the ensuing 10 days. I still tear up thinking about it and my heart goes out to you. Hang in there. ❤️ And yes. Thank you firefighters.
Definitely a summer vibe to this late-day photo, TJ. Very pretty. And I love seeing Tenaz again!
I love seeing him with a couple of fillies; they clearly adore him even in the grouping of the big group (which is a couple of bands). 🙂
Gorgeous!!!!
Even hot and hazy, it IS pretty darn gorgeous around here. 🙂
So glad for the rain! What a good looking family!

Oh, Valerie! Prayers for your house and your little town and your neighbors and Cal Fire firefighters working so hard for you all!
Thank you
Prayers for Bailytan and your town.
I’m so sorry. I was evacuated for 2 weeks in 2003 with the Cedar Fire. It’s scary. I hope everything remains safe.
Then you know the stress that goes with evacuation. I got my pets with me at my daughter’s house…so just playing the waiting game.
