This handsome fellow was spotted a couple of days after the end of fourth rifle season. Some does were nearby. He wasn’t too interested in posing for pix. … I’m just glad he hid himself away the last couple of months.

Good for him, TJ! He stayed elusive…and alive. And how wonderful it is that we get to behold his beauty still. What a magnificent buck! Thank you for this photo and all that it represents.

There are still a few healthy boys out there, chasing the girls. That’s always good to see, especially after the hordes have been here. 🙂

I believe we are in the “midst” of hunting season – land all around me is posted and there are enough homes close enough to deter hunters. Truthfully very few anymore. I know of one neighbor that hunts. The only worry would be road hunters – I may have told this before, but I had a doe standing under my bird feeder at the bottom of my yard & she got an arrow thru the neck – apparently (this was at night too) she ran out of the yard thru the field up back & didnt quite make it to the woods – died at the back of my field.
Bled out. So I’m not too trusting of so-called “hunters”. I’ve known many good hunters who loved just being in the woods as much as getting a deer. But there dont seem to be a lot of them left.

It had to have been terribly hard to see that aftermath of a careless hunter. I like to think there are ethical hunters (I know some), but there’s a great deal of “road hunting” (too?).

I saw him at what would have been past the legal time to hunt in the evening. … And I’m still glad it was past hunting season in any case. 🙂
