Mud monster

Aka Maia. 🙂

Wow. That’s some serious mud immersion! She and her band weren’t far from a pond that still has good water. Hopefully we have some rain coming this weekend. It is dry, dry, dusty dry.

In good news: Today is the last day of third rifle season.

😂 Now that is some mud coat she’s got going on! Maybe she’s attempting a bit of incognito…going dark. 😁 And yes, TJ; we are so very powdery dry and hopefully the moisture will increase tomorrow.

Maybe she wanted to be a brunette for a little while? 🙂 Hopefully the rain WILL hit us! Sunday has a pretty high chance!

I’m sitting here thinking its a darn good thing you gave her name – not that I’m familiar with all those horses like you are – but the mud turns her into a whole new entity.
I remember those days – but my next thought was I have to scrape that off if I want to ride!!!! Chico always looked SO satisfied!

Ha – they all like to play in the mud. 🙂

Looks like she had a long stay at the spa! She needs a good long soak to get all that mud off!

She needs a seaweed wrap (!?) next! 😉

It’s sure over now. We still have fourth season, but it’s way less crowded than third. Shouldn’t be too many people. Crossing fingers for rain, rain, rain! 🙂

Have to change her name to Gaia unless that’s taken already. I hate hunting season.

Maia also is a May Day baby. Gaia – sorrel mare with Storm – is an Earth Day baby. 🙂 Third season – the worst season – is now over. Breathing a huge sigh of relief … though there are folks here who have yet to leave the valley.

Very lovely. I hate it — sign outside the local liquor store, “Welcome Hunters” — what could go wrong?

I laugh … but only because I get it. I will say that there’s a group of Texans who come and hunt here … I’ve seen them at least three times previously. I don’t know them; I’ve never talked to them. Every time they leave, I see big (clear) bags of all their cans securely stashed on their flatbed trailers. I thank them (not that they hear it) every single time. (Beer cans, soda cans, cans of beans … whatever they are, they pack ’em out.) I’ll also say that I’ve found very little trash along the road this season. I keep it picked up with the idea that seeing no trash will encourage them to NOT toss their trash. … Whether it’s conscious or unconscious, it seems to work pretty well.

Yep. The economy here runs on Texans.
