The winter solstice was yesterday. The shortest day of the year saw temps plunge 30 degrees in 15 minutes at Denver International Airport – from 42 degrees to just 13, according to a Denver Post headline that came through my email.
Over here in the southwestern corner of the state (note to news source that said the temps would be “shockingly cold pretty much everywhere in Colorado“: we’re actually in Colorado, thanks), we started *warming* a little bit today. I saw 34 degrees, but it may have gotten a bit warmer. š
Quite a start to winter. Stay warm out there, wherever you live!
Finally. Now we can look forward to the days getting longer – hopefully warmer – once again. Little by little, we’re heading toward spring. Yay! And thank goodness we’re just out of range from the cyclobomb cold blast!
I like the cold when it comes to keeping snow on the ground, with some thawing during the day to allow water to be drunk (I never know if that’s a right word?!) instead of snow eaten, but I’ll say that even I am ready for some (slightly) warmer temps again. š And I’m definitely ready for another fresh dose of snow!
And now winter begins as the days get longer. More snow please!
That’s our wish!
Glad the longer days are coming! Hoping for more snow also!
Exactly. š
Same here — I don’t think people realize that SW and S Central and maybe even SE Colorado ARE Colorado. I got a Christmas card today telling me to enjoy all my mountain snow. I’m like, “uh…OK from a distance.” Maybe we should secede š
Ha! Colorado is all Denver and Aspen, right? š We do have quite a lot in common with Utah over here, but we’re still proud and happy to be in Colorado! … Enjoy your snow … mountain and otherwise (I hope you’ve gotten some)! š
I was thinking of a state that’s just us down here. Not Utah, not NM, not OK but us… š Totally impractical… We haven’t any snow and none is in the forecast.
