Mr. Aspen is one of our oldest oldsters these days. He’s hanging out with a (much) younger bachelor, and they’re pretty content to wander and graze and stay out of trouble … and mostly far from roads. He also likes to keep his distance from most humans. Because of that, it’s been a while since Aspen has made an appearance on the blog. Too long, I’m sure at least one follower will agree. π
Canβt imagine how / where you found him but heβs looking mighty fine !
Would you believe, very near a road right in the heart of the basin? π Usually, it’s a view from very far yonder!
Definitely I am one who misses him and am glad to see your photo of him. Iβve painted this wonderful handsome guy many times. He is one of the many oldster mustangs in my heart and soul forever!

He is among the oldest now. How long we’ve been watching them, eh? π
There’s my boy! I wonder about him often. It will be a sad day when he passes on.
I was thinking particularly of you when I found him the other day close enough – and willing enough – to get pix. π I see him often … but most often, he and his pal are “far from the madding crowd”!
The old dude still looks good!
He’s a little lean, and he has his share of scars, but I think he looks pretty good, too. π
I remember you posting pictures of Aspen when he was still with his mama. Wow! Time flies. β€οΈβ€οΈ
I would love to see that…
You might be thinking about another horse? Aspen was a young(ish?) bachelor when I first started documenting the horses. He was part of the boy band I called the Bachelor 7. π But that’s been 15 years almost. … Time DOES fly!
Yes, your right! The bachelor 7! Was Apollo and Hayden part of that bachelor band?
Oh, no. π They came along much later. … Both also are gone now. π¦
For an old guy he looks really great. Must be I havent been on this blog long enough to see him before. Hes beautiful. Hope he remains so for a long time.
He’s had a small band at various times through the years, but he’s pretty much a confirmed bachelor these days.
This is just wonderful, TJ – a photo of Aspen! I had been wondering about him…almost afraid to ask. It’s so good to see him again, and he’s looking really good too as one of our older gentlemen! Thanks TJ.
He likes the quiet life. π
So great!
One of the quieter boys as a bachelor. π
