How is it that such amazing creatures think they can hide behind something as insubstantial as a dead pinon? Maybe they don’t think much of humans’ vision. I fancy I have a very highly advanced idea of humans’ vision, given what’s very often in my field of vision! π
How is it that Europe is re-wilding their wild horses at the same time this country seems to have the goal of eliminating them?

Very interesting article. Thanks for sharing!
Love it ! Hiding in plain sight but not with your eye and lens ! So glad this fall weather is holding and still offering food to the herd π
It has been GORGEOUS lately! … If still way too dry.
Beautiful picture!
Alegre is a beautiful girl. π
I don’t usually comment twice but wanted to thank Axelsmom20 for the article. Wouldn’t that be amazing to consider all wild horses with such respect
Agreed!
πIndeed!

I love your peekaboo photos, TJ; they just crack me up. Critters always have this expression of “you don’t see me” when they are “hiding” like this and it’s so darn cute. π
You can really see them thinking about things in those situations. I wish I knew, really, WHAT they’re thinking. π
“Hi there, Sarah. I’m not hiding. I’m posing.”
Maybe it’s like when I didn’t want to eat my mom’s (gross) pot roast I hid the pieces under the rim of my plate thinking she couldn’t see them because I couldn’t see them looking down at the plate???
Ha ha! I don’t know, but it’s funny what we’ll all try to get away with? π
LMAO of at this one – on a serious note, though, I’m open to the possibility they line up and say, “Here she comes! Do I look good? What do you think of this pose??” – – the only reason I suspect that is because during my time of working to photograph some other horses for a client’s site? there were a couple ‘hams’ in the group and they did – they posed and looked for where me & the camera was – no matter how much I tried to stay in distance and just catch candids – nope – They would go with their crowd but even in stealth mode, myself, wasn’t long before they were looking over, honing in on me, and galloping right over to me – “lookat me, lookat me! Don’t Iook awesome???” LOL
Oh, I don’t think they have any concept of having a moment in time captured for ALL time in a fraction of a second as a single image (though I tell them all the time how gorgeous they are and how much the folks love to see them). π I do think some horses – especially domestic horses – enjoy being around humans (especially if/when they think the human has something yummy to offer).
Ha! I see you!
