It was really great to see this wonderful old guy.
Sundance lost his band earlier this spring, and he’s been wandering alone since then. He seems to be all right, but he’s thin, and he shows zero interest in being around other horses.
I was really glad to see the pond so full that he could walk in, up to his knees, and just drink and drink and drink. And he did.
I sat on the bank; he didn’t mind me at all. I’m sad to see him in perhaps his twilight year(s), but I was really glad to see my old friend.
This is sad, TJ. I know this time comes for all magnificent stallions; they grow older; they lose their bands; they isolate to some extent. But I guess I had hoped that beautiful, magical Sundance could live forever. It hurts my heart that he is in his “twilight years.” π₯Ή I DO like the looks of that water, though, and love seeing Sundance gulp his full!
I wish they could all be immortal. … We just have to love them lots while they grace the planet. π
So, so true, TJ. “Love them lots.”
It’s always hurtful to watch any animal – domestic or wild – get closer to the end of their lives. It’s hard – every single time.
Yes, it is. He’s still with us, though I see him infrequently these days. He’ll have lived his life wild and free, and that means a lot.
He still looks pretty good! It is sad when they age! At least he had a good life and lived free!
He’s moving slower … but he’s doing all right. π Enjoying these Indian summer/fall days. And yes, his life will have been lived fully wild and blessedly free!
Wow ! Such an amazing treat to see him and sooo much water ! Iβm really happy for both of you π
That is a LOT of water. So glad to see him able to take advantage of it all. π
Oh Sundance , what a beautiful old soul.
He is that, for sure!
What a beautiful face. β€οΈ
He really does have the most handsome face. π
Sundanceβ¦.. my heart is
