Winona paused for a brief little catnap on a ridge above Spring Creek canyon while moseying/grazing with the band. I just happened to be moseying along with them – happily, gratefully! – and caught her looking beautiful as always.

❤️ Our precious Winona is so beautiful. I always think of Chrome when I see her.
I was recently looking through blog posts from 2012, looking for particular pix, and I came across a lot of Chrome … and other horses we’ve lost. We’ve known and lost a lot of great mustangs. … Also pretty crazy that Winona was once so beautifully buckskin! 🙂
Yes, TJ, “other horses we’ve lost.” So many. And I do remember Winona’s gorgeous buckskin color back in the day.

I’m so intolerant of the heat anymore … but being with the horses, somehow, I don’t notice it as much – like the cold in winter?! 🙂 On the downside, yesterday, we had wind, and it was out of the north/northwest/west, and it just swamped the valley in smoke. That was a bummer after having several days of relatively little smoke. … And it’s not just Disappointment, it’s really the whole huge region that the smoke has blanketed. I think it must be from all the fires northish of us. Containment is happening, but none are out. … We need rain badly … for so many reasons!
