Indian paintbrush in Spring Creek Basin.
I always forget how BRIGHT and vibrant they are … until the next spring rolls around and they blaze with color in the basin’s brown ground and green sage (and greasewood and shadscale and sage and other bits). Wildflowers this year are tiny and hugging the ground. The first prince’s plumes have started to stand tall … always a good sign.

We were out near Yellow Jacket Canyon last week and there were a few of these gorgeous beauties making an appearance. They do seem to be so much brighter out in the desert than anywhere else. And…did I read Prince’s Plume! 😄 That’s our cue, TJ; time to come visit!
Nice to see them, wherever you are! Someone else posted pix of claret cups already blooming. Wow. I think the prince’s plume will be very few and far between this year … but yes, I’m glad to see some hardy plants starting to bud. 🙂 See ya’ll soon?!
