Forest pony

It’s not often that I find the horses in wooded areas, so it’s always a treat to photograph them among the pinon and juniper. Corazon indulged me – maybe because he thought I couldn’t see him, or maybe he thought I was farther away than I was (behind trees and my very long lens). 🙂 Rarely does he pose so nicely for pix.

Corazon was named by me (he was one of the original herd members when I started documenting) for the *heart* in his pinto pattern on his left side. Naming him was fairly easy because of that. 🙂

Awwww. He is a cutie all tucked away in the trees! And good name, TJ; you nailed it!

I love him in the trees. 🙂 And I think of his heart every time I think of *him*!

It must be tough to try and hide with those markings ! On the other hand, thankfully they have not much to hide from in the basin. Such a handsome boy and wondering if the girls like that long, gorgeous mane.

Where the trees are thick enough, it might serve as camouflage! Fortunately, I’d seen the horses from a very far distance away. 😉 Very thankful, yes. Ha – I don’t know whether the pony girls like that mane, but I sure do, especially backlit!

He’s definitely one of our old, long-time favorites. 🙂 I’m not sure how old Corazon is now, but he must be near 20; he was mature when I started documenting 17+ years ago!
