Sundance and his long-time mare share a quiet nap on a cloudy-still-hot evening in Spring Creek Basin.
The heat and dry is hard on wild things. We’ve had a little easing of the terrible heat, but it’s still incredibly dry out there.

Hot & dry all over, I guess. This is day 3 of over 90 here.
We’ve had our 100s … and I hope those days really are past-tense.
I love these gentle, affectionate mustang moments. Warms my heart. And yes, TJ; it’s so very, very dry. Lots of cracks in our dirt over here and powdery dust everywhere. We need rain so badly.
The powdery dust … ! 😦 I think the horses love those spots for their dust baths to deter the gnats, but man. … I hope the coming (!?) rain is gentle and not destructive … that it nourishes and doesn’t just wash away. … I hope it’s the Navajos’ female rain. 🙂
It’s hot in MI also! Hoping for some relief by Sunday!
Ours hopefully (by the forecast – ha?!) is coming this afternoon and into tomorrow, so with any lucky, it’s heading your way. … Don’t mind us if we try to wring as much moisture out of those clouds as we possibly can while they’re over our region. 😉
