No matter how many times he gets run off from the main band, Skywalker keeps coming back around. Family can be prickly … but there’s a place for them all. 🙂

Its sad when a stallion loses its place in charge – the loss of his whole family. The aloneness is worse I think than anything else. Plus the danger of being older & alone.

Skywalker has always been a bachelor, but for the past few years, at least, he’s been attached to a rather large group (two bands and his bachelor pal and himself), so he’s not alone.

Yes, I just saw Hollywood a few days ago. Not close; he was napping, and I was checking water sources. He was near two other bands.

💕 Hopefully there will always be a place for Skywalker. I’m still wishing he could have a band of his own someday; seems he has lived his lifetime on the periphery.

He’s of an age to have his own band, for sure. There’s security in familiarity, and I think that mostly “satisfies” him? 😊 Mostly, he’s pretty laid back, but sometimes, he gets all active!

TJ although I’ve been reading for a few years I’m not remembering specifics. How old is Skywalker? And are those equine bite marks on his neck, etc, in that photo? Or insects or plant material? His hair?
Just curious.
I recently saw a trapped wild horse that was quite bitten up from the other horses…

Thanks so much for reading and following our Spring Creek Basin mustangs! Skywalker is 11. The marks are old (and not-so-old) scars. As greys grey out from their original color (he was born black pinto), the scars will continue to show through. You see that very visibly on roans, too. With other colors, sometimes the scars aren’t as easy to see, but many times mature/older stallions will show a number of scars. … I always know when the baby boys are growing up because their visible scars increase!
