As mentioned in yesterday’s post, the snow is gone, gone, gone. My wonderful friend and friend of the mustangs Pat Amthor is visiting this weekend to give me moral support during the starting weekend of the worst week of the year (in my ever-so-humble opinion): third rifle season. The people population is much higher, and it causes stress to this two-legged and all the other four-leggeds in the vicinity.

For the most part, I believe, they do leave the horses alone. Just the sheer increase in humans and their traffic (and trash) is unsettling.

So while we patrol and keep an extra-close eye on things – including visiting the horses and gathering new images – enjoy a couple more days of already-scheduled snowy goodness on the blog. πŸ™‚

Be careful — its not only trash they spread! Our season starts in a couple weeksI think – dread it – altho most properties around me are posted. I root for the deer!

There’s just not a lot of water out there, so the deer and elk aren’t moving much to this lower elevation. Fortunately, I haven’t had to pick up a whole lot of trash!

I love “your” snow, TJ. So glad you got as much as you did out there. And yes – “tis the season”…in a bad way. We’ve been thinking about you and the ponies as we brace for this particularly unwelcome rifle season. Do yo have your pink warning strips on the signs yet?! 😁

Yes! Pat and I got the streamers streaming! FYI to everyone else: There are signs upon entering Disappointment Valley from the highway and in Spring Creek Basin just inside the main entrance that tell visitors that vehicles must remain on designated roads, and no off-road travel is permitted. Every year, I highlight the sign in the basin with strips of pink flagging to ensure the sign is seen by our visitors who might otherwise think they can drive off-road anywhere they want and may later claim they didn’t see the big sign. πŸ™‚ I think most people abide by the warning of the signs.

Such a blessing to spend time with you And the horses. The quiet is so calming for me. I like this tradition of ours.

So do I. πŸ™‚ Very, very much! And I hope it continues for years and years to come!
