National Day of the Horse

And have you heard … 2014 is the YEAR of the horse? It’s about time. πŸ™‚

Interestingly, the resolution originally was sponsored by then-Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado.

About the horse sign in the Chinese zodiac, according to Wikipedia: “These three signs [includes tiger and dog] seek a true lover, and are like-minded in their pursuit of humanitarian causes. Idealistic and impulsive, the Tiger, Horse and Dog follow the beat of their own drum. Defiant against injustice, these three signs wilt without large amounts of physical affection and loyal support for causes. They are productive, enthusiastic, independent, engaging, dynamic and honorable. They can also be rash, rebellious, quarrelsome, hot-headed, reckless, anxious, moody, disagreeable, and stubborn. Although these three signs are loyal, they can be very protective when lied to.”

Just an interesting bit of information. I don’t claim any knowledge about tigers, but some of these characteristics seem particularly human rather than might be attributable to animals!

Enjoy your horses if you have them, give them an extra hug, and think good thoughts for all our mustangs, wherever they are.

TJ, in the crazy busy times I spend assisting so many humans each day, I am so happy to see your breathtaking photos and read your bits of wisdom that bring me back to how important it is to enjoy and learn from the God given gifts we receive every day… a constant reminder to me to live more instinctually (is that a word?) and enjoy each day for what it brings. And the best gift is YOU!

Yes, I really wish this could be the Year of the Horse!!! That these horses would be protected for centuries to come. I’m with you, I’m surprised Ben Campbell introduced that resolution. Let’s hope he is coming to his senses. My husband filmed his Congressional ads many years ago.

To share the beauty of our Spring Creek Basin mustangs and their beauty brings me great joy. THEY are the gift! πŸ™‚ We hope for our mustangs that they may live as they are evolved to live. The trends are not in their favor, but here and there, we move forward with hope.
